The leaves are turning beautiful autumn colors, score posting has come to a close and ILLINI fans look forward to becoming bowl eligible with a couple more victories.

Though the fall temperatures have taken a dip, there are sure to be plenty of days perfect for another round of golf. The course continues to be in fantastic condition and ready for your enjoyment.

Congratulations: Heading the list this month has to be acknowledging the sensational play of our LFCC high school golfers making their mark at this year’s state finals. First off, congratulations to the Saint Thomas More boys golf team for winning the 1A state championship, the first state championship in school history (in any sport).

Anchored by LFCC senior Ryan Murphy placing 3rd individually (69-77), the team also included LFCC players; Wil Baillon, Ben Dodds, Jackson Hayes and Jordan Wellinghoff. Great work gentlemen!

Austin Hunt also qualified for the boy’s high school 2A state finals with an impressive 77 at the Sectional qualifying.

The STM girl’s golf team should also be congratulated for a second place finish at the golf 1A state finals. Contributions were made by LFCC golfers: Claire Dabrowski, Megan Deedrich, Jennie Hayes and Jamie Rollins. Way to go ladies!

The Centennial girl’s golf team also deserves kudos for advancing to the 2A state finals thanks to solid efforts from LFCC golfers Jenna Dombroski, Lizzy Dombroski and Krista Vedvik. Lizzy placed 13th individually carding scores of 76 & 78. Great job Chargers!

The tradition of outstanding LFCC junior play continues.

Additional congrats go to: Gary Griglione for his eagle 3 on #15 and Paul Kane’s lifetime low 78 (including four birdies).

Thank You: I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Golf Committee for all their hard work the past 10 months. Bill Riley (Chair), Nadine Brown, Joe Giuliani, Ray Heinrich, Doris Higgins, Rick Holiner, Mark Miller, Laurel Tucker, Craig Vedvik and Mike Zopf, all invested numerous volunteer hours to provide you a balance of competition, camaraderie and FUN. Thank you all!

I would also like to thank the membership for its support and participation at the 1st annual LFCC Honors and Employee Recognition evening. It was a magical evening honoring our numerous event champions, as well as our two 25 year employees Becky Beach and Larry Montgerard. It was truly special hosting Becky and Larry’s families for this special evening.

A special note of thanks to those of you that helped support the Central Illinois PGA Assistant’s Championship raffle. I’m happy to say that we had numerous winners including Mike Sebens winning a set of Titleist AP1 irons. Again, thank you!

While offering thanks, the membership deserves a big THANK YOU for its support of this year’s golf programs. Many of the programs had increased participation, including: men’s league, member-guest, “nine & dine” and ladies 9-hole league just to name a few.

A few words from Becky Beach: On a personal note, thank you for a great 25 years at Lincolnshire Fields. Thanks to all of you who attended the Recognition dinner and thanks to all of you who have sent me congratulations through notes and gifts. Since I started working here as a twelve year old, I will only be 62 in another 25 years!?!? Thanks again to the entire membership and staff.

Green Fee Special: I am thrilled to be able to communicate the following special; starting November 1st and running through the end of the 2008 season, Green Fees will be discount by 40%. The 18-hole fee will be just $30 (from $50), and the 9-hole fee just $18 (from $30). In addition to the great savings, each discounted Green Fee comes with a complimentary beverage voucher that may be used for a draft beer, ice tea or fountain soda of your choice. The only catch, the beverage voucher is only valid for the day of play. Don’t wait until the weather gets cold, bring out a foursome and enjoy the LFCC tax break and economy stimulus package.

Golf Shop Hours: With the end to daylight savings time Sunday November 2nd, the Golf Shop will be moving to a 9am to 5pm schedule Tuesday through Sunday. Weather permitting, we will still accommodate the golfers earlier and later as needed. Also, the Golf Shop will be closed on Thursday, November 27th in observance of Thanksgiving.

Driving Range: As we change the calendar to November, the realization that the Driving Range will soon close for the year is at hand. Weather will determine exactly when that will occur, however, the plan is to close sometime in early November.

Car Pass: With the gift-giving season just around the corner, I wanted to make you aware of a new idea sure to make the recipient happy, a 10 or 20-play Car Pass. These Car Passes enable the holder to 10 or 20-Play electric cart rentals while enjoying a round here at LFCC.  These wonderful gifts can be purchased at the Golf Shop for $150 for a 10-Play or $300 for a 20-Play. Car Passes can be used on guest rounds, family rounds or anytime you come out to enjoy a round.

Bag Storage: Confident that we will have many beautiful days for golf in the month of November, please be aware that once the weather turns for the worse we ask that you make arrangements to pick up your clubs. Insurance regulations prohibit us from storing any member clubs through the winter. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Score Posting: The bell has tolled, score posting has concluded for the 2008 season. Year-end handicaps are now posted, and you may print a handicap label reflecting your season ending handicap. The computer will no longer accept any scores until the service resumes in late March 2009. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a few more rounds this year.

Also, please remember that if you travel to a warm climate for winter golf, please save your scorecards to assist with posting those scores in the spring.

In closing, thank you for the honor and privilege of serving as your PGA Head Professional. The combination of a caring membership, along with such a dedicated clubhouse staff have truly made the last 18 years special for me.

Best wishes for a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving with family and friends.
